Vortex Chains and Vortex Jets in MoSi Microbridges

چکیده

Superconducting bridges exhibit many properties of a Josephson junction, such as the electromagnetic radiation at overcritical currents I > c and steps in microwave-irradiated current–voltage (I–V) curves. These effects stem from periodic motion magnetic flux quanta (vortices) narrowest region bridge. According to Aslamazov Larkin (AL) theory, I–V curve constriction should voltage kinks each time number vortices 1D vortex chain is increased by one. However, presence defects fluctuations, intervortex repulsion stipulates formation 2D jet, which goes beyond AL model. Here, milling one or two slits across MoSi thin strip, we make move vortex–jet vortex–chain fashion, respectively. Unexpectedly, for strip with observe equidistant transport ≃ 2 are rather far assumption ≈ At moment, have no explanation this observation, tending attribute it fast relaxation processes looking forward comparison other superconducting materials.

Gravitating Monopole–Antimonopole Chains and Vortex Rings

We construct monopole-antimonopole chain and vortex solutions in Yang-Mills-Higgs theory coupled to Einstein gravity. The solutions are static, axially symmetric and asymptotically flat. They are characterized by two integers (m,n) where m is related to the polar angle and n to the azimuthal angle. Solutions with n = 1 and n = 2 correspond to chains of m monopoles and antimonopoles. Here the Hi...

Monopole–Antimonopole Chains and Vortex Rings

We consider static axially symmetric solutions of SU(2) Yang-Mills-Higgs theory. The simplest such solutions represent monopoles, multimonopoles and monopole-antimonopole pairs. In general such solutions are characterized by two integers, the winding number m of their polar angle, and the winding number n of their azimuthal angle. For solutions with n = 1 and n = 2, the Higgs field vanishes at ...

Modelling vortex-vortex and vortex-boundary interaction

The motion of two-dimensional inviscid, incompressible fluid with regions of constant vorticity is studied for three classes of geophysically motivated problem. First, equilibria consisting of point vortices located near a vorticity interface generated by a shear flow are found analytically in the linear (small-amplitude) limit and then numerically for the fully nonlinear problem. The equilibri...

Vortex-dynamics model for entrainment in jets and plumes

Recent experimental results of Bhat and Narasimha ~1996! have revealed a dramatic difference in the entrainment between jets and plumes subjected to off-source volumetric heating and their unheated counterparts. Experimental observations show that plumes entrain more rapidly than jets; the greater entrainment by the plume is typically attributed to the presence of buoyancy in the plume. In cont...

Observation of Vortex Coalescence, Vortex Chains and Crossing Vortices in the Anisotropic Spin-Triplet Superconductor Sr2RuO4

Scanning μSQUID force microscopy is used to study magnetic flux structures in single crystals of the layered spin triplet superconductor Sr2RuO4. Images of the magnetic flux configuration above the ~a~b-face of the cleaved crystal are acquired, mostly after field-cooling the sample. For low applied magnetic fields, individual vortices are observed, each carrying a single quantum of flux. Above ...
